“Sing Loud”
While at the skatepark with my boys yesterday, I was reminded of an important life lesson from a 10-year old girl on a scooter.
There was some rock song playing, and I goofily did my best to sing it to myself, only I was not alone.
This little girl and her friend were riding nearby on their scooter. Before I could stop singing, it was too late.
She called me on it. “I heard you singing,” she said. I laughed embarrassingly, and before I could figure out what to say, she interrupted, “You sing well.” “You should be on America’s Got Talent. I love that show.”
Knowing this was quite the embellishment, I genuinely thanked her. And then she said something I would never forget. “If you’re going to sing, sing loud.”
Boom.💥
What a statement. I was moved! She had no idea how I instantly applied that to life.
Anything that you are going for, move shamelessly and boldly.
- Have a big presentation today? Sing loud.
- Ready to make a move on a big decision? Sing loud.
- Need to have a crucial conversation with a partner? Sing loud.
A ten year old on a scooter reminded me of the significance of remaining playful and not taking yourself too seriously in this crazy, serious world.
Slow down, enjoy the moment. Sing Loud!
