I am ecstatic to have had the chance to join Sam Wilson on the How to Scale Commercial Real Estate Podcast. On the show we discussed a few things every passive investor should know. Here are the cliff notes:

1️⃣ Delay instant gratification and put your extra money to work

We all want things now. Most of us have extra income that can be channeled towards investments, compounding over time to produce massive wealth. Rather than consume, if we choose to invest these discretionary funds, we will make significant progress in getting gaining freedom with our passive investments.

2️⃣ Now Is the time to invest in your education and personal finances

Mindset is key. Knowledge and education opens the door to the sense of urgency needed to make the decisions we must make that our future selves will thank us for. Read, learn and understand how the wealthy created their wealth, keep their wealth and limit taxes against their wealth. In the process, you will learn why they choose real estate as an investment vehicle.

3️⃣ Passive investors in multifamily real estate should not discount the contribution they make to the communities in which they invest

Not enough people talk about this, but when you invest in multifamily real estate, you are investing in the welfare, safety and lifestyle improvement of the community. Residents depend on owners for safe and comfortable housing and unfortunately, not all management teams are the same. Working with the right sponsor, ensuring alignment of interest and sharing the mission to impact communities is one sure way to make a difference while investing for great financial results.
