Morning Empowerment: Why You Should Finish What You Started

“Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house” Matthew 5:15

Unpublished Work

I found out that an estimated 80-90% of authors never finish their project. Of those that finish, half never even publish their creation.

Similarly, it is estimated that 60-80% of studio artists never release a full album and 60-75% of bands never release a second album.

So much effort! Who knows the potential impact of this hidden work?

My Secret Blog

For 5 years I had a blog. Very few people knew about it. It wasn’t that I tried to hide it, but more so evidence that I was not putting myself out there enough. I wrote 300 articles that very few people read. I would share my content through social channels but refused to engage the people that saw me face to face. I was guilty of hidden work.

When I wrote Business in the Bible, I was especially cautious of the temptation to put my pencil down, because I have known of people to start a book and never finish. I did not want to be another victim whose work would never get into the hands of those it was intended to bless.

What Are You Hiding?

Some work should stay hidden until it is ready to go live. Others stay hidden for way too long, maybe under the guise of continuous improvement, not meeting our standards, or it being personal. We should each ask ourselves, what is it that keeps us from finishing our masterpiece and from sharing it with the world?

I believe the world would be a better place if so many people had not given up too soon. We have gifts. Let’s take a break from perfection and just finish. And then when you finish,

Put yourself out there!
