Last week, I spent a morning speaking to middle school kids about three powerful qualities of leaders: courage, coachability and character. I was deeply moved by their eagerness to make a difference. They asked excellent and challenging questions like:

✔️ What if my passions change?
✔️ When should I ask for help?
✔️ What if I feel like giving up?
✔️ Can I be successful if I drop out of school?
✔️ Why can’t some people achieve their dreams?
✔️ What do you do when you just want to quit?

As I reflect on this remarkable experience with these young souls, I was reminded that today’s youth really do care about the world and want to leave it better than they found it. Young people are hungry for someone to show them the ropes and groom them for deeper levels of personal authority and empowerment.

Times may appear bleak, but after thar session with those young leaders, I am reminded that there are plenty of leaders in the next generation who will take the torch from us. It is most critical that today’s leaders are pouring into those of tomorrow!
